Ivan Engineering is a general engineering company that specializes in services to the marine industry. It was established twenty eight years ago by Ivan Separovic, a Croatian engineer with extensive knowledge of ships garnered from over fifteen years of working aboard vessels at sea. At present Ivan Engineering's premises are situated in Paarden Eiland, Cape Town, and provides manufacturing services ranging from the design process to boiler making and machining. Thus it is seen that Ivan Engineering offers a unique service in todays market by being able to assist a client from the inception of an idea all the way through to it being realized as a finished product. This principle is equally valid whether the project involves an existing item that needs to be re engineered or whether the client has a brand new idea that he wants to create. The boiler making division of Ivan Engineering is powered by a team of skilled, versatile workers consisting of boilermakers, coded welders, sheet metal artisans and operators. These artisans are divided into efficient teams that work independently of each other many varieties of site tasks. Ivan Engineering has guillotines, benders, numerous inverters and welding machines, acetylene cutting torches and Plasma cutters. With these machines the boiler making and sheet metal development divisions are equally proficient in working with Lloyds Grade “A”, 300 WA, mild steels, stainless steels and non ferrous metals. An added benefit of Ivan Engineering is the inclusion of an CNC operated Acetylene cutter. With this machine Ivan Engineering can nest many items onto standard sized plates and create automated cutting paths, optimising a lot of our project time restraints considerably. Ivan Engineering's machine shop consists of a team of qualified fitters and turners that between them have accumulated over seventy years of experience manufacturing a broad variety of products. Using a workshop consisting of numerous lathes, milling machines, drill presses, threading machines and metal shapers this team can produce items from an extensive list of materials whether it be steel, non ferrous metal, plastics and even organic materials such as wood. Most often this team becomes involved in designing complex machinery and optimising the efficiency of existing items. With these basic divisions, Ivan Engineering has built a highly successful company pandering to the needs of the Marine Industry in Cape Town. Because the company nurtures clients from original design all the way to product completion, it maintains a vast and varied client base.
