HISTORIC OVERVIEW In 1978 Mr. J.S. (Koot) Bothma, a Refractory Engineer (1930-2013) and Mrs M.A.(Tossie) Bothma started off with 4 labourers in a small plant on his small holding producing and selling Refractory products. He registered Flintcast Refractories in 1979 and the first client was Rustenburg Platinum mine. Refractory castables were supplied for relining and repairs of their pots. In 1981, even larger expansion to the production facilities was required and Koot decided to erect a new factory in the Delmas industrial area, 8 Robyn Street where the plant is still operational today. Now we have a large product range which includes: Conventional Castables, Low Cement Castables, Self-flow Castables, Pumpables, Plasters, Parting agents, Gunnite, Spray materials, Mortars, Ramming as well as installing all the refractory products. Currently we stand at level 3 accredited for the year 2014. The current directors are: M.A. Bothma; JS du Preez;JS Bothma (Jnr); M. Mokoena and MW Manamela. During 2007 and 2008 the company implemented ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 successfully. The following clauses of the ISO 9001 standard are excluded: - Validation of processes for production and service provision (7.5.2) - Customer Property (7.5.4) Flincast Refractories (Pty) Ltd plans to obtain ISO 9001 certification in 2015. We have the technology to analyze chemical and environmental agents active in high temperature conditions and can provide the most cost effective Refractory solutions for our clients. We exercise effective quality control over our raw materials and manufacturing operations which includes a testing laboratory.
