Quik_Log Geophysics is an owner-managed South African BEE compliant company based in Johannesburg, which specializes in the provision of sophisticated geophysical borehole logging services for the mineral exploration and geotechnical sectors. The company is run by Field Engineers, Geophysicists and Geologists in a combination which provides highly professional data acquisition, processing and interpretation services. Senior staff, comprising MD Geoff Campbell, Logging Manager Gerrie Nel, Logistics Manager Rob Campbell and DP Manager Warren Krynie individually have between 14 and 37 years hands-on experience in borehole logging and ancillary fields in Africa. Quik_Log currently runs five permanent-installation 4x4logging truck systems with a maximum borehole depth capacity of 2300m, and a portable “fly-in” system. All utilize state-of-the-art equipment from a spectrum of overseas suppliers, including Auslog, ALT, Robertson Geologging and Mount Sopris. In our seventh year of operation the company’s repeat-client base has grown to include ANGLO PLATINUM, ANGLO COAL, DE BEERS, LONMIN, VALE, RIO TINTO etc, and numerous junior exploration companies plus geological consultancies. Areas of operation currently range through South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, the DRC and Zambia. Quik_Log runs a complete spectrum of slim-line borehole logging tools measuring up to 16 wall-rock physical property parameters (Table 1, Quik_Log Brochure). We also run check-shot and VSP surveys using a downhole geophone with a clamping arm and a variety of surface seismic energy sources (airgun, weight-drop, Vibroseis). We have considerable expertise in hardrock and (moderately) soft rock logging in the gold, platinum, base-metal and coal exploration areas. Kimberlite pipes constitute our most environmentally demanding logging targets. We have no experience in potash, logging in evaporate sequences.
